Updated Nov 2026: a native MCP server is in review, not shipped

Does Invoice Ninja have an MCP server?

Not an official one yet. A native MCP server has been proposed in Invoice Ninja's main repository and is still in review. Today you can connect Invoice Ninja to Claude through community servers, or use an invoicing app that ships its own 102-tool MCP server.

MCP / AI-agent integration

Invoice Ninja

No official MCP server in a release yet. A native, opt-in server is an open pull request. Several community servers wrap the REST API; you run and maintain them yourself.

InvoiceCave

First-party, hosted MCP server with 102 tools. Public manifest at /api/mcp/manifest. Works with Claude Desktop, Claude Code, and Cursor with one API key.

Invoice Ninja and MCP: where things stand

Checked November 2026. This changes quickly, so check the links before you decide.

  • Native MCP server: in review

A pull request opened in October 2026 adds an opt-in MCP endpoint to Invoice Ninja itself, at /api/v1/mcp. It has not been merged, so it isn't in a release yet. Follow it on GitHub.

  • Community servers: available now

Independent developers publish MCP servers that call the Invoice Ninja v5 REST API with your API token. Two of the more complete ones are NightSquawk/invoiceninja-mcp-server (AGPL-3.0, asks before each write) and halviclabs/invoiceninja-mcp (MIT, read-only unless you turn writes on). Neither is made or supported by Invoice Ninja.

  • What that means in practice

With a community server you install it locally, keep it updated, and give it an API token with access to your billing data. That works well if you're comfortable running developer tools. If you want Claude to create, send and chase invoices without running a server, use an app with a hosted MCP server.

Which one is right for you?

Choose Invoice Ninja if…

  • You want to self-host

Invoice Ninja runs on your own server and you keep the data. InvoiceCave is hosted only.

  • You need a payment gateway other than Stripe

Invoice Ninja supports a long list of gateways. InvoiceCave takes card payments through Stripe Connect.

  • You're happy to run a community MCP server

If you already run developer tools, a community server gets Claude talking to Invoice Ninja today, and the native server may land later.

Choose InvoiceCave if…

  • You want MCP that works now, with nothing to install

Generate an API key, paste one config snippet into Claude or Cursor, and the 102 tools are there. No server to host or update.

  • Your AI should send and chase invoices, not only read them

Create, email, remind, record payments and pull aging reports, all from plain-English prompts.

  • You want a low flat price

Pro is $4/mo for up to 200 customers and 300 invoices a month, with MCP on every plan.

Prompts you can run in InvoiceCave today

In Claude Desktop, Claude Code, or Cursor. 102 tools, plain English.

"Create a $1,800 invoice for Sumana Industries, Net 15, and email it to billing@sumana.io."

Claude calls create_invoice, then email_invoice.

"Send a polite reminder to every client who's more than 30 days late."

list_invoices for overdue invoices, then send_reminder for each one.

"Set up a $2,000 monthly retainer invoice for Acme, due on the 1st."

create_recurring_invoice with a monthly schedule.

"Who owes me money, and how late is each invoice?"

get_aging_report, summarized by client.

Frequently asked questions

Is there an official Invoice Ninja MCP server?

Not in a release as of November 2026. A native MCP server has been proposed as a pull request in the main Invoice Ninja repository and is still being reviewed.

Can I connect Invoice Ninja to Claude today?

Yes, through a community MCP server. You run it on your own machine with an Invoice Ninja API token. These servers aren't made or supported by Invoice Ninja, so check each one's license and how it handles write access before you give it a token.

Can I move from Invoice Ninja to InvoiceCave?

Yes. Export your clients from Invoice Ninja as CSV, connect Claude with an InvoiceCave API key, and ask it to add each client with the create_customer tool. Then connect your Stripe account to take card payments. The free plan is enough to try it with a few clients first.

The verdict

Invoice Ninja is a strong choice if you want to self-host or need a gateway other than Stripe, and its native MCP server may arrive soon. If you want Claude or Cursor to run your invoicing today, without installing and maintaining a community server, InvoiceCave's hosted 102-tool MCP server is ready on every plan, including Free.
